2008-06-17 Kids club - Koala corridor

Tuesday, 17 June 2008

Brrrrr! What happened to the lovely summer weather we were enjoying? June has hit us with a vengeance. With temperatures under 10degC in the early mornings we are staying in bed a little later as we attempt to beat the cold. However we are still having lovely days with temperatures back to 25degC by lunchtime.

Our Cafe has been very busy and is now open every Sunday from 10-2pm. We have also started to do special events such as birthdays, anniversaries and even an engagement party. We are able to prepare a special menu for a group booking of 15 or more people.

Ebonnie Madden has joined our team as our fantastic Barista and is also now fulltime as our new Jill of all trades. Ebonnie teamed with DiBella Coffee for the annual Rathdowney Heritage festival where we prepared coffees and the proceeds went to the local Historical Association to help purchase the Fred Johnson Cream Truck which has a lovely link with the Mt Barney area.

Lillydale has recently introduced Kids Club and a Pamper package for our guests. This is a great new addition as the children are looked after by fully qualified staff and the parents are able to relax at the homestead by pre-booking a massage or facial. There are also extended baby sitting times available or dinner and a movie for a group of children so that the parents can head off for a romantic lunch or dinner in the nearby town of Boonah. There are also many nearby wineries where you are able to do wine tasting.

Our Koala Corridor is finally finished! At least phase one is completed. If there are any volunteers in about 10 years when we are planting the understory with native shrubs to provide the smaller animals with a habitat and food source you are welcome to join us. We are all over planting trees at the moment.

Doug has extended his list of expertise to include car maintenance. Our guests were relieved to find out that Doug had changed a tyre or two in his lifetime and were able to help them out. They were a wonderful family and we did think of keeping them hostage for a few more days.

We hope that you are enjoying the change in weather and that you head down for a visit soon.
