So, now that you have discovered Mt Barney and all of the wonderful things to do in our area here are some attractions a little further away ...

Rathdowney is a short 20 minute drive from Lillydale and has a great convenience shop where you can grab the paper, a bottle of milk or any of life's necessities that you may have forgotten. The Rathy Pub as it is affectionately known does great value meals and offer a range of brews to quench your thirst. There's a beer garden out the back where you can keep an eye on the kids. If you're heading there on a Friday night just follow the utes! The Rathdowney Information Centre has great local memorabilia to collect and a wealth of knowledge on the local area.

The Falls Drive to Queen Mary Falls National Park is a beautiful drive. There is a 4WD option for 4WD enthusiasts and a cafe on the mountaintop which is open Wed-Sun. Lake Maroon and Lake Moogerah are fantastic spots to cool off and are great fishing spots. Lake Maroon is an easy 20 minute drive and Lake Moogerah is an hour away. Bring a kayak and make a day of it.

Explore the town of Boonah which is a short 40 minute drive from Lillydale there is a unique range of stores such as Maynards which stocks all of your clothing needs, Valley Fresh which offers delicious local organic produce or Outdoors & More which has a great range of Outdoor equipment. The Boonah Cultural Centre always has something going on such as movie screening, plays or concerts. The Art and Soul gallery displays works by local artists and provides light lunches. The Dugandan Hotel is on the outskirts of Boonah on your journey back to Lillydale and is a great country pub that welcomes everyone for a beer or even a meal. The rainforest way offers a way of seeing the local area and has many great maps that provide scenic drives through the local area.

On your way back to Brisbane why not take a different drive through Ipswich and visit The Workshops Rail Museum there is often special events going on and who can resist being a kid for the day and spending time with Thomas the tank engine?
