Doug and Pam Hardgrave would like to welcome you to Lillydale, one of the oldest farmstays in Queensland. It is so hard to believe that this rural getaway is so close to Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This little slice of heaven has been their home for almost 50 years and they love introducing new friends to farm life. They have three daughters, Kylie, Kim and Bec and seven grandchildren, Toby, Mary, Darcy and Tyler, Saxon, Jude and Ryan.
Lillydale's staff is made up of Doug, Pam and Bec. Doug is in charge of most of the activities and Bec does Kids Club and Saddle Club, office work and is also your friendly cleaner. Pam looks after the office and is also the gardener. She is a member of many committees and boards which means she is often jetsetting to fabulous places around Australia for meetings.
Spend time with the Hardgrave's and become part of their family during your stay. Listen to Doug as he tells you about growing up on a farm and help him with the everyday chores that are a little out of the ordinary such as checking cattle and fences on your horse ride and making sure that our local koala family are okay in Koala Grove.
Doug also has great insider knowledge on climbing Mt Barney that he is happy to share. Pam is often found in the organic vegetable patch or watering the plants and you are welcome to grab a watering can and help out. Bec is a registered wildlife carer and is happy to talk for hours about the local wildlife.
Whether it is just a day tour* to escape the hustle and bustle or an overnight stay, this family operated award winning farm has something for everyone. During the day go fishing, horse riding or bush walking in Mt Barney National Park. You can also help Doug feed the animals, collect the eggs, milk the cow and even meet Wally the calf! Lillydale Farmstay is close to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Relax in your comfortable 4.5 star AAA rated accommodation with a private kitchenette, ensuite and outdoor courtyard. After a long day participating in all these activities revitalise yourself with a massage or facial from our local beautician Jen or send the children off to Kids Club or Saddle Club with Bec and enjoy a glass of local wine with a cheese platter.
For families wanting a little more room, Lillydale offers an environmentally friendly self contained 2 bedroom cabin that has a spectacular view. It is beside the new koala corridor approximately a 5 minute walk from the homestead and sleeps up to 8 people.
Not just an alternative means of accommodation, it's an opportunity to experience country hospitality and rural activities, while learning an appreciation for the bush. Our hope is that everyone who stays at Lillydale is able to experience new activities that strengthen their relationship with each other. Many couples love to go bushwalking in the Mt Barney National Park where we are able to point out the different species of birds and butterflies. While families usually choose a trail ride where they all get to participate in a new experience followed by Kids Club so that the parents can spend time together while their children are absorbed in learning about the farm with Bec.
Lillydale is a winner of the Beaudesert Country Tourism Awards Hosted Accommodation and also a Queensland Tourism Award Winner in 2006, 2007 and 2008. This automatically enters Lillydale into the Qld Hall of Fame which cements the fact that Lillydale is one of Queenslands premier farmstays.Lillydale is proud to be a part of Ecotourism Australia's accreditation scheme and currently holds Advanced Ecotourism status. We try to approach life with a sustainable outlook and have planted over 1000 eucalypts to help create a lasting habitat for our local koala families.
At Lillydale your stay will be uninterrupted by technology with most mobile phones out of service range, which gives you the perfect reason to reconnect with nature and the ones you love.
